about
This is a deeply personal, original instrumental composition in tribute to one of my heroes who helped me save my own life. These ideas came to me in a dream, and thus, I'm manifesting them here, now. He has been gone now, passed on for twelve years to this day. I carry on.
To explain the image; I have read that placing a sunflower on a grave is a symbol of adoration, dedication, and loyalty.
Though the skies look as hazy as my life was then, the red barn represents the legend that it was painted red and placed in plain sight so that the cows could see it and find their way home. The green trees? Peace.
To explain the music; The instrumental piece is done in a rubato tempo, in somewhat of a new age style - seemingly chaotically - as was my life when I first met him. Starting off with what seems to be a series of sad, random notes being better organized, going with the flow, resolving to happier notes, and to a peaceful ending.
The harps represent the higher calling.
The flute represents the call of the human spirit.
You can hear the lamenting chiming of what sounds like church bells, and the piano representing the dripping of tears.
Underlying is the sounds of life flowing like a river, as in life, represented by the ambient synth notes supporting all of the others.
The chimes? A reminder from a higher source that all is well - a good mourning.
